Neches
we join an older woman who experiences a quiet telepathy with the Neches River. She is our guide, although she can’t promise us answers. The river offers us the woman’s memories, as she recalls being a young girl warmly introduced to the spirit of the landscape by her mother. The film conflates time, slowly assembling a puzzle that is missing a final piece. The missing piece of Neches may be a decimated forest adjacent to the banks, or perhaps it’s the resolution we all crave about the past.

Director Katy McCarthy
Runtime: 9 minutes

Wildcat
It’s the early 1900s oil boom in Texas and Clara’s husband, Sam, a driller, has disappeared, along with her daughter, Dottie. Clara knows the oil crew Sam was hired on to is responsible for the disappearances and stalks them day and night looking for answers. Otis, the owner of the well is desperate to bring his well in, but his driller has disappeared and now his crew is being stalked by Clara.

Just as Otis decides to take matters into his own hands, Dottie suddenly reappears. But she may not be all that she seems. Over a long night, Clara and Otis come face to face with each other as a malevolent presence appears to toy with them.

Set against the cinematic, yet lonely, backdrop of rural west central Texas, Wildcat explores themes of desperation and isolation. As the long night comes to an end, it remains to be seen who will get out alive, if anyone…

The actress takes it upon herself to coax the writer’s inner extrovert into the spotlight, challenging her to confront the fear that’s kept her in the shadows. As their relationship deepens and the writer’s comfort zone is pushed to its limits, she must grapple with whether her love for the craft is greater than her dread of the social world she’s avoided. Ultimately, she discovers a profound truth about her own journey and what truly matters on her path forward.
